The “Public Forum - Post Questions or make comments on Labor Unions” forum is our only public forum. This mean everyone can view it that comes to the page. We do have quite a few visitors so keep that in mind if you post anything in this particular forum.

All the other forums are FSA membership only forums. That means that they need to be FSA Members known to the Forum Administrator before they are granted access to read or participate in the forum. The only folks that will be admitted to the “members only” forum are FSA Members in good standing.

contract proposals

Lets think carefully and discuss possible proposals for our new contract. For example, how about the ability to sell back just the dental or just the vision or just the health insurance but not dental and vision?

How about the ability to buy more life insurance after retirement?

RE: Bill: you are a sweetheart!

It takes one person with the brains and guts to step up and take the initiative. You will find that others in the workplace will join you if they see they have a legitimate, committed leader. I will do as much as I can to help you too. It may seem a little overwhelming at the outset, but we can work it through- you will see.

Bill: Thanks again for answering my questions!

You are a big sweetheart. I felt all alone at work. Everyone is unhappy with the management, pay and loss of benefits. When anyone talks of a union, then everyone is scared off. What is a girl to do?

RE: Unions Are Good for Business

Hi Ruth,
Of course there are union dues, and many members are not as well informed about their unions role. First and foremost, a union gives workers the chance to bargain with the employer on an (almost) even basis. Representation by a professional advocate in matters related to employment is another plus. On an even grander scale is what the union does politically to push issues of importance to working people. There are also many, many, union benefits and discounts that can more than make up for what a member pays in dues. These are too numerous to name individually,(My union actually publishes a book periodically listing them as they are updated.) If you woulkd like to hear even more, I will try to answer as much as I can. Let me know...
I am so confused. People tell me that all unions do is taking your dues money. If that is not true please give me more information on the role of unions in the workplace.
